Writespace is built by North Mac Services, Inc. (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don’t do with your work.
The short version
- We collect the minimum needed to run an account: your email, your name, and your documents.
- We do not train AI on your writing. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers.
- Your drafts are yours. You can export everything to Markdown or DOCX at any time, and you can delete your account in one click.
What we collect
Account information
– Email address (used to sign in and to email you about your account)
– Display name (shown only to you)
– Password (stored as a one-way hash; we never see the original)
Your content
– Documents, plans, databases, tags, spaces, and citations you create inside Writespace
– Version history for each document, kept while your account is active
Billing information (Pro / Lifetime customers)
– Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers. We store a Stripe customer ID and the subscription state (active, trialing, canceled, etc.).
Usage analytics (privacy-respecting)
– We use Fathom Analytics on the marketing site. Fathom does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. We see aggregate page views and referrers, not individual users.
– The app itself does not include third-party analytics.
Operational logs
– Standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp, error traces) are retained for up to 30 days for debugging and abuse prevention.
What we don’t do
- We do not train AI models on your content. Not ours, not a vendor’s, not “to improve the service.” If you want AI involved in your work, you bring your own — see the Bring Your Own AI section.
- We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
- We do not share your content with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not read your documents. Engineering staff only access content when you explicitly ask us to (e.g., a support ticket about a corrupted file).
Subprocessors
We use a small number of vendors to operate the service:

Your rights
- Export: Every document can be exported to Markdown or DOCX from inside the app. Pro accounts can bulk export.
- Delete: You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Deletion removes all documents, plans, databases, and version history within 30 days.
- Access: Email [email protected] and we’ll send you a copy of everything we have on you.
- Correction: Edit your name, email, and content at any time inside the app.
If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, you have the rights granted by GDPR, UK-GDPR, and CCPA respectively. We honor all of them. Email us at [email protected] to exercise them.
Data retention
- Active accounts: We keep your content as long as the account is open.
- Trial accounts that don’t convert: We keep your data for 90 days after trial expiry, in case you come back. After 90 days of inactivity, we delete it.
- Deleted accounts: All data is purged within 30 days of deletion.
- Backups: Encrypted backups are retained for 30 days for disaster recovery.
Children
Writespace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
